A group of 8 guests/speakers from the Netherlands were in Beijing for the “Tsinghua-Leiden Workshop on Advanced Cryo-EM Technology” from 15-16 January 2018. After a warm welcome by Professor Xinquan Wang, researchers from Tsinghua University, Leiden University Medical Centre (LUMC), Leiden University’s Biology Institute (LU, IBL), the Netherlands Centre for Electron Nanoscopy (NeCEN) and Thermo Fisher presented their work and technologies during this 2-day open meeting.
It has been an exciting workshop with ample opportunity to get to know one another, exchange ideas on research and technologies, and have a tour of the CryoEM facility. The talks were an inspiring starting point for future collaborations. There were many questions after the presentations, lively discussions and much interaction during lunches and dinners. A round table discussion took place on 17 January to plan a follow-up workshop between Tsinghua and Leiden in the Netherlands, to look for common subjects to cooperate on and staff exchanges for further development and consolidate collaboration.
