NeCEN is managed and operated by a team of scientists with different roles and specialties.

In addition, several local research groups are closely affiliated with NeCEN, in particular, from the Faculty of Science (Steffen Brunle, Sebastian Geibel, Lars Jeuken, Lennart Schiada, Kaveh Lahabi) and the Leiden University Medical Centre (Bram Koster, Meindert Lamers, Montse Barcena and Roman Koning).
